Anthology of M Kamaluddin Ahmed’s poems released

GUWAHATI: An anthology of Assamese poet M Kamaluddin Ahmed’s poems, translated into Hindi by Dinkar Kumar, was released at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday. The anthology entitled ‘Tagar Tum Chahat Ka Khanij Ho’ was released by eminent Hindi poet cum journalist, editor of ‘Dunia In Dino’ Sudhir Saxena. In his inaugural speech Saxena mentioned Ahmed as a strong voice of modern Assamese poetry. In addition to that Saxena significantly remarked that Ahmed’s poetry deals with the universal and humanistic feelings crossing the geographical spaces. In his speech as the chief guest, Pradip Acharya, a noted literary-critic and translator opined that an essence of the Assamese folk life echoes in Ahmed’s poetry.

Speaking on the occasion, translator Dinkar Kumar shared his experiences of translating Ahmed’s peoms. He also deliberated on theoretcal aspects of translation.

Noted Assamese poets Anubhav Tulasi and Bijay Sankar Barman also spoke briefly about Ahmed’s poetry.

Literary critic Bibhash Choudhury, poets Dhrubajyoti Das and Lutfa Hanum Salima Begum were also present at the event.

Whilen Dr Jayanta Deka hosted the book release function, Dwipjyoti Bora recited Hindi version of a few poems by M Kamaluddin Ahmed.
