Amit Shah wins Gandhinagar seat by over 7.4 lakh votes

Union Home Minister Amit Shah won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Gujarat’s Gandhinagar seat with a margin of over 7.4 lakh votes against opponent Congress candidate Sonal Patel.

Congress leader Sonal Patel lost the seat with 2.66 lakh votes. 

Shah won the Gandhinagar seat with a total of 10,109,72 votes.

The seat was also held by former deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani in 2014, and has witnessed the victory of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1996.

Gandhinagar went to the polls on May 7, during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The BJP has enjoyed a more than decade-long stronghold in the Gandhinagar seat, with eminent leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee winning.

The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 begins deciding the fate of candidates on 542 of the 543 Parliamentary seats.
