BJP national president Amit Shah will visit Guwahati on May 20 so as to assess and strategise preparations for the 2019 general elections. The BJP president is presently busy campaigning in Karnataka that goes to vote on May 12 while results will be declared three days later, on May 15.
The national BJP president will chair a meeting of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in Guwahati and will also take stock of organizational aspects of the party in the region. He will also meet the chief ministers of all NDA-ruled States of the Northeast during his day-long visit to the Assam capital.
“Our party president Amit Shah will visit Guwahati on May 20 and will chair a meeting of the NEDA and also hold talks with chief ministers of NDA-ruled States of the Northeast,” Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass said.

On the other hand, the State party unit will celebrate the second anniversary of the Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government and completion of four years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre with a three-day-long programme from May 24.

Ranjit Dass also said they are further strengthening the party base with an eye on the general elections due next year.
