Amit Shah calls Assam CM to enquire about Nimati Ghat Ferry accident

Guwahati:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday called Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to enquire about the tragic Majuli’s ferry accident in the Brahmaputra river on this afternoon.

CM Sarma said that Union Minister Shah called him and expressed deep concerns and also enquired about the accident in Nimati Ghat and took an update on the rescue operations and conditions of those rescued so far.

Taking to his Twitter, CM Sarma wrote, “Adarniya HM Sri @AmitShah had kindly called to enquire about the accident in Nimati Ghat and took an update on the rescue operations and conditions of those rescued so far. He said the Central Government is ready to lend all possible help. Grateful to him.”

 

CM Sarma also expressed deep concern over the tragic boat accident at Majuli and directed the District Administration of Majuli & Jorhat districts to undertake rescue missions expeditiously with the help of NDRF & SDRF.

CM Sarma also directed Minister Bimal Bora to immediately travel to Majuli for taking stock of the situation.

The Chief Minister also added that he will visit Majuli tomorrow for evaluating the situation.
