Amarnath Yatra cancelled due to COVID

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir  Manoj Sinha announced that the annual Amarnath pilgrimage will not take place this year due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Aarti will be available online for the devotees.

The decision was taken after Manoj Sinha had discussions with the shrine board.

Last year also the Amarnath Yatra was canceled in view of the conditions created by the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 56-day yatra to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine of Lord Shiva, located in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, was scheduled to start from the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal on June 28 and was to culminate on August 22.
