GUWAHATI: As former journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, the common candidate of Congress and Maulanda Badrudin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has been elected to Rajya Sabha from Assam, Bhuyan showered praises on AIUDF today.

Bhuyan who was in the forefront of many agitations including anti-CAA movement in Assam flattered AIUDF, “My views on AIUDF are different from that of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Democratically elected MLAs of AIUDF represent a large number of people in the society. AIUDF doesn’t have any opposition to the regional issues of Assam.”

Terming Congress and AIUDF as the major parties of Assam, the journalist-turned-activist Ajit Bhuyan urged the parties to take ‘Common Minimum Programme’ to defeat BJP.

“All these developments of being elected to Rajya Sabha happened within 15-16 days. I didn’t have any idea that one can become an MP like this,” Bhuyan added.

An elated Ajit Kumar Bhuyan also exchanged sweets with Congress and AIUDF leaders.
