GUWAHATI: Amid resentment in the Congress over the alliance with Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora claimed that AIUDF is not a communal party.
“AIUDF is not a communal party. Seeking development of the Muslims doesn’t make them communal. They have never stood against the Hindus,” Bora said.
However, in contradiction to his claim, during the last Lok Sabha elections Ripun Bora criticised the Ajmal’s party as the most communal one.
“We are never going to form an alliance with a hardline communal party like AIUDF,” the APCC president said in the run-up to the general elections in 2019.
