Air Hostess on Ventilator Sexually Assaulted: A heartbreaking and disturbing case has come to light from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. A 46-year-old air hostess from West Bengal has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a hospital staff member while she was semi-conscious and on a ventilator. The incident reportedly took place on April 6, just a day after she was admitted for treatment.
The woman, who had travelled to Gurugram for a workshop, had taken ill after swimming in the hotel pool. She was admitted to Medanta Hospital on April 5. After being discharged on April 13, she bravely told her husband what had happened and filed a complaint with the Sadar police station.
According to the FIR, the woman was too weak to resist the assault. What has shocked the public even more is her claim that two nurses were present in the room at the time but did nothing to stop the attack.
In response, Gurugram Police have launched a serious investigation. A special investigation team led by Sadar ACP Yashwant has been formed to look into the matter. CCTV footage from the hospital has already been collected, and staff members who were present during the woman’s stay are being questioned.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Gaurav, stated that the investigation is being conducted from every angle, but due to the sensitive nature of the case, further details cannot be disclosed right now.
Medanta Hospital released a statement saying that they are fully cooperating with the authorities and that no allegations have been confirmed yet. They have also handed over all relevant documents and CCTV footage to assist with the investigation.
