GUWAHATI: Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has introduced Bihu as an elective subject for the HS curriculum from the next academic session.
The decision has been taken to spread awareness among the students about the rich heritage and culture of the State.
Prominent personalities including Jaykanta Gandhia, Khagen Gogoi and Ismail Hossain prepared the lessons on Bihu for HS curriculum.
On the other hand, AHSEC has decided to introduce 27 vocational subjects from next year. Similarly, ‘Accountancy’ and ‘Business Studies’ will be considered as elective subjects in Commerce stream.
