After attending wedding in Biswanath, 28 infected with Coronavirus

GUWAHATI: A wedding has become the source of infection of COVID-19 in Biswanath  district of middle Assam. According to reports, 28 persons have infected with Coronavirus after attending the marriage that took place at Uttar Maral Gaon on August 5.

At first 11 attendees of the wedding were found positive for COVID-19. On Tuesday, 100 villagers were tested for Coronavirus. Among them, 17 were found to be positive.

“The village has been facing the danger because of the lack of awareness among the people. No other villages in Assam have faced such situation. Every household in the village to be tested. So far, around 200 tests have been done.  The government should conduct 400 more tests,” said a local resident.

He also stated that government rules and regulations were violated in the marriage.

“Around 500 people gathered at the wedding venue. No social distancing norms were followed,” he alleged.
