Adil Hussain to play Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in movie ‘Battle for Bengal’

Guwahati: Noted actor Adil Hussain from Assam is set to play the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Indian movie “Battle for Bengal.”

After getting so much recognition and praise for ‘Delhi Crime’, director Richie Mehta will make a new film in the context of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle. Adil Hussain has been considered to play the role of Bangabandhu Mujibur Rahman in the film. The name of the film is ‘Battle for Bengal.’

The contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the war of liberation of Bangladesh is undeniable. This year marks the hundredth birth anniversary of Bangabandhu.

At first, it was said that the film would be released this year on the occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. That’s why the film’s directors and crew came to Bangladesh last March.

But the film shooting was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is rumored that the team that went to do recce included action director Shyam Kaushal, who is the father of popular actor Vicky Kaushal and film client Amir Mokri. The film is being produced by a production company in Los Angeles. If all goes well, the shooting will start by March-April next year.

A few days ago actor Hussain won the best actor award for his film ‘Pareeksha’ at ‘Indo-German’ Film Week in Berlin. Hussain won the award for his mesmerizing acting in the film ‘Pareeksha’ for his character of ‘Bucchi Paswan’.

Delhi Crime which starred him, along with Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, and Rajesh Tailang in lead roles, was nominated at the International Emmy Awards 2020. The investigative drama series is a contender for the Best Drama Series category. Adil Hussain has received National Film Awards in 2017.
