GUWAHATI: Coming down heavily on the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the student body will be now treated as a political party.
Speaking to reporters Dr. Sarma said that AASU leader Dipankar Nath had claimed that there was no COVID. As they are now a political organization they will be replied in a political tone said the minister. Dr. Sarma also said that the respect AASU received will not be considered as they are just like any other political party.
“When they were non-political we gave them answers respectfully and now as they are political we will deal with them like the AJP, AIUDF or the Congress. Let them declare that they are non-political then we will deal with them accordingly,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“We are aware that they are trying to uproot the BJP. If someone tries to attack me, I will definitely try to defend myself. We can’t give them the chance,” said the NEDA Convener.
