GUWAHATI: Pranab Gogoi’s wife and daughter thanked United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) chief Paresh Baruah after news came that the lives of the two kidnapped Quippo employees might be spared as information of talks have come up through a mediator regarding their release.
Pranab Gogoi’s family members including his wife and daughter thanked News Live chief managing editor Syed Zarir Hussain for constantly sharing news and for talking with ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah.
“We came to know about this update through News Live. I thank Paresh Baruah for his decision to halt their plans of ‘Charam Sasti'(strong action). I also thank the people of Assam for supporting us,” said Mrs. Gogoi.
“I thank Paresh Baruah for sparing my father. I am very happy after getting this news. My last request is to immediately release my father,” said Pranab Gogoi’s daughter.
On Sunday, through a phone call, ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah informed News Live chief managing editor Syed Zarir Hussain that they have halted their plans of ‘Charam Sasti'(strong action) to the two abducted employees after talks between the ULFA-I and the Assam government.
It is to be mentioned that ULFA (I) had abducted radio operator Ram Kumar and drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi from the company’s drilling site in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on 21 December last year.
