GUWAHATI: Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited employees Pranab Kumar Gogoi and Ram Kumar are expected to return home safe and sound after negotiations have started through a mediator regarding their release.
On Sunday, through a phone call, ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah informed News Live chief managing editor Syed Zarir Hussain that they have halted their plans of ‘Charam Sasti'(strong action) to the two abducted employees after talks between the ULFA-I and the Assam government.
“Quippo failed to offer a solution during talks with us but now we are getting information through our mediator about a new solution and we are expecting good news soon,” said ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah.
When asked about the kidnapped employees, Baruah said, “After talks with the authorities and government we will return the two abducted employees safe and sound.”
Also, United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) chief Paresh Barua on Sunday informed the general secretary of Gauhati Press Club (GPC) Sanjoy Ray over the phone that discussions on the release of the two employees were continuing and “We hope that there will be a positive outcome soon”.
It is to be mentioned that ULFA (I) had abducted radio operator Ram Kumar and drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi from the company’s drilling site in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on 21 December last year.
