‘BJP to contest assembly election under the leadership of UPPL in BTC areas’

GUWAHATI: Attending the Third Bodo Peace Accord’s First Anniversary celebrations in Udalguri, Assam Finance Minister and NEDA Convenor Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the BJP and UPPL will contest the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly Election as partners.

Dr. Sarma shared the dais with Dilip Saikia, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) President and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), CEM, Pramod Boro.

The UPPL and BJP will jointly contest the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections to be held in April. The BJP will declare its candidates once the election dates are announced, said Dr. Sarma. “The UPPL and BJP will jointly fight in all the seats in BTC. By the end of February, once the election dates are announced, we will disclose the seat sharing. It is 100 per cent confirmed that the BJP and UPPL will contest the assembly polls together. In BTC areas, BJP will contest the assembly election under the leadership of UPPL,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

It was on this day on 27th January 2020 the Third Bodo Peace Accord was signed by different stakeholders in New Delhi.
