GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah who is on a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya, will address two mega public rallies today in Kokrajhar and Nalbari of lower Assam.
Shah will attend the one year celebration of signing of the historic Bodo Peace Accord at Green Field in Kokrajhar. The tripartite accord was signed in New Delhi on January 27, 2020 by representatives of Bodo organisations with the central and Assam governments.
The Bodo parties to the agreement include the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), the United Bodo People’s Organisation (UBPO) and all the four factions of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB).
After addressing the gathering in Kokrajhar, Shah will also attend another meeting in lower Assam town Nalbari.
The union home minister is likely to be accompanied by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health, finance, education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
With a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya of northeastern region of the country, Amit Shah arrived in Guwahati in the early hours of Saturday.
On Saturday, he chaired the 69th plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong.

Later, at a function in Guwahati, Shah rolled out the ‘Ayushman CAPF’ scheme, extending the benefit of the central health insurance programme to the personnel of all armed police forces in the country.
Under #AyushmanCAPF, CAPF personnel and their families can now avail cashless medical treatment in any #PMJAY and CGHS empanelled private hospital.
