GUWAHATI: Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) held its 3rd NE webinar for Manipur chapter on October 6 with eminent scholars of Manipur.
Dr. Subhajit Choudhury, moderator of the seminar narrated the objectives of the webinar and welcomed all the participant and speakers.
Sailendra Pandey, Chairman of JSF Northeast chapter introduced JSF and the importance of population law for the country.
Pandey urged all sections of the society right from villagers, women, youth, students, teachers and professionals to come forward to support for population control law. He was followed by Mr. Lalji Sonari, coordinator, NSFNE, stated how we can play an important role to make this law with immediate effect. He also expressed his happiness by witnessing such a active participation from Manipur.
Professor Naorem Lokendra Singh, Head, Department of History, Manipur University vividly narrated how Manipur is becoming one of the restless place from calm and quite place due to excessive population specially Jiribam area.
He also mentioned the history of migration from neighboring places as one of the reasons for population explosion which needs to be stopped at any cost. Dr. O Ranjit Singh Professor, History Department, Manipur University pointed out that excessive population is a burning issue, this population control law we need to support not by paper but by heart. He appealed all to come forward to join hands to strengthen us to support for strict population control law.Dr Jaya Laxmi Devi remarked that population control is need of the hour for us and for the county Bharat. Dr. Th Mina Devi, Dr W Dhiren Singh, Dr. H. Ajit Meetei, Dr. Kamei Budha Kabui, Shantibala H, Dr Kangabam Ibetombi Devi and other also stated that it is very important and we shall do the needful for this good cause to bring this law. Finally, Mr Sailendra ji thanked with a message that let us stand together to bring this law.
