After inaugurating the Atal Tunnel, known as the world’s longest highway tunnel at 10,040 feet, PM Narendra Modi went for a knowledge tour to know more about the hardships Border Road Organisation faced in building the tunnel. Lt Gen Harpal Singh was clicked explaining PM Modi about the entire process on how the 9.02 km long tunnel connection Manali and Leh was built.
The Atal Tunnel is now officially open as PM Narendra Modi along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur removes the curtains to unveil the wonderfully constructed 2-lane highway at around 10,000 feet. PM Modi was given a red carpet welcome. Soon after he will be heading to Sissu in Lahaul to address a public gathering.
