GUWAHATI: Good news for the people of Golaghat as the government has set up 24 ICU beds in the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat. On the first day, ten Covid-19 patients have been admitted to the ICU. The newly installed ICU is also equipped with ventilator services and oxygen concentrators.
An oxygen concentrator is a type of medical device used for delivering oxygen to individuals with breathing-related disorders. Individuals whose oxygen concentration in their blood is lower than normal often require an oxygen concentrator to replace that oxygen.
According to reports, around 150 people are tested COVID-19 positive in the Golaghat district each day and to date 16 people have died of COVID-19.

“It is very good news for the people of Golaghat as the serious patients were previously referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital(JMCH), but as the new ICU has been set up here serious patients will get treatment here itself. Along with 24 beds and 20 ventilators, five ICU technicians have also been appointed in this hospital,” said the hospital in charge, Dr. Rupam Dowarah.
Dr. Dowarah added, “Authorities have also given us oxygen concentrators. This Oxygen concentration devices will be of great help if there is a scarcity of oxygen in our hospital because these oxygen concentrators can convert natural oxygen for patients’ use.”
