Guwahati: All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Monday formed a new political party and named it as Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). Commenting on the formation of the new party AJP, Assam Health, Education and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the formation of the party is nothing but a very normal incident.

Dr. Sarma said, “When it comes to elections, we see new candidates and new social workers every year. So this is a very normal affair. If it wasn’t AASU some other party would have formed a new party. And I am sure that they won’t get more than 800 to 1500 votes from each constituency”.

Dr. Sarma also said, “I have no idea about the new political party because I won’t be joining the party and everybody knows that BJP is a regional power party”. The senior BJP leader on a lighter note said that no matter who forms the party, they should not become a party for raising donations and such an environment should be avoided.
