GUWAHATI: Wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) kits, the doctors and other health workers conducted the first Caesarean section of a COVID-19 positive pregnant lady at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) in Barpeta.
The woman gave birth to a baby girl. According to reports, the baby has tested negative for COVID-19. Currently the baby is being monitored at Baby Care Unit of the FAAMCH.
Expressing his gratitude to the medical team, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa sarma tweeted, “Wearing PPE kits, our team in Barpeta Medical College has conducted the first Caesarean section of a COVID positive pregnant lady. My sincere gratitude to the members of the team.”
