HS admission to be online in Assam says education minister

Guwahati: In a major announcement, Assam Government has decided that Higher Secondary admission will be conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing a press meet Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “SEBA has declared result of H.S.L.C on 6th June 2020 and this year HS admission will be conducted through online mode due to COVID-19 pandemic”.

Dr. Sarma added, “This year, it has been planned to include Students Account Number and IFSC code in the application form for admission in the Degree Courses to make it much easier to enrol for the courses”.

“The total number of students who appeared for HSLC is 342224. Out of which 221756 students passed across the state – 31522 in first division, 77850 in second division and 95628 in third division. While 5941 students passed the HSLC with distinction marks and 10815 students scored star marks. A total of 42 rank holders have emerged in the state this year”, said Dr Sarma.

Furthermore, Dr. Sarma mentioned that around 17 schools across Assam have 0 percent pass rate and these schools will be permanently shut down. All the teachers of these schools will be transferred within next 72 hours across the state.
