Guwahati: The Assam Government has sent a list of suggestions to the centre on the possible fourth phase of lockdown.
The Centre had asked the states to send their recommendations for the fourth phase of the lockdown by May 15.
However, the Assam Government urged the Central Government to extend lockdown by 2 more weeks.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal that he has written to the Centre about extending the ongoing lockdown by two more weeks from May 18.
The government has also decided to mark areas where cases are detected as containment and buffer zones while continuing to regard the districts concerned as green zones.
The Assam Government has sent a list of suggestions to the centre as follows
1. 50 percent of shops in the shopping malls can be allowed to open
2. Movie halls and food courts in the shopping malls can’t be allowed to open
3. Curfew to be imposed from 6 PM to 6 AM
4. All the E-commerce services can be allowed to operate by giving them some kind of relaxation.
5. All the restaurants can only follow take away services
Meanwhile, transportation services operation will be decided by the centre and the state wants to follow that accordingly.
The chief minister stated that people of the country have responded to the bold decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in enforcing lockdown.
He also hoped that India would prosper under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a study by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), industries and the government in Assam suffered losses of Rs 1,000 crore a day during the lockdown. Sonowal said his government hasn’t carried out a separate study of losses incurred by individual sectors.
So far the total tally of COVID-19 positive cases in the state now stands at 91 with 46 active cases and 2 deaths.
