GUWAHATI: Seven more persons tested COVID-19 positive in Assam. The new COVID-19 positive persons are cancer, heart patients and their attendants who had come to Guwahati from Mumbai by buses and are now under quarantine.
Taking to Twitter Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced, “7 patients & attendants who came from Mumbai & now in quarantine tested positive.
Cancer: 1.Manoranjan Saha 2.Pradip Kumar Bania 3. Gopindra Chandra Malakar;
Heart: 4. 13-year-old (name withheld)
Attendants:5. P Basudev Patowari 6. Nilakantha Deb 7. Mina Rani Bania.”
The patients stranded in Mumbai were brought to Guwahati by 6 sleeper buses on Tuesday night. After requisite screening the patients and their attendants were sent for quarantine.
Earlier on Wedneday, 15 persons from Guwahati tested COVID-19 positive. They were related to Mangu Sahani, another COVID-19 patient who used to work at a potato godown at Fancy Bazaar area in Guwahati. Among the 15 positive people related to the potato godown, there was a barber who used to work near the godown. All of them were in quarantine and immediately rushed to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH). Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma monitored the transit of the patients to the hospital on Wednesday night at Fancy Bazaar.
