GUWAHATI: The family of Kumud Kalita of Hajo is devastated with the news of him testing positive for COVID-19 in New Delhi. Kalita, posted with the 31st battalion of the paramilitary forces and was stationed in the national capital, is among the reported eight troopers from Assam who have so far tested positive with one official – SI Ikram Hussain from Sarupeta in Barpeta district – already succumbing to the virus.
The family is very worried with little news on his present health condition coming in from the authorities. Kalita’s wife, who spoke to News Live, has made a desperate appeal to the Assam Government – particularly to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma – to bring her husband back to the State and arrange for his treatment here.
“The last time we spoke with him was on April 24. Since then there is little news that we have received regarding his health. I request CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to bring my husband to Assam and treat him here,” she pleaded with folded hands.
Kumud Kalita’s father also appealed to the State Government to either bring him back or speak to the Delhi government and ensure that he gets proper treatment.
