Kohima: The Nagaland Police is working round the clock to ensure that the state’s border remains completely sealed during the lockdown period.
Mokokchung Superintendent of police Vishal Chauhan speaking to Northeast Live informed that police personnel in adequate numbers have been deployed to maintain strict vigil in border areas along the inter-state border with Assam.
Meanwhile, quarantine facilities have also been set up for cops who will undergo quarantine after withdrawing from inter-state check gates.
Speaking to the media SP Vishal Chauhan said, “We have made a very systematic plan to close the border from some time now. This major step has helped us in keeping our districts safe. About 170 police personnel’s under Mokokchung police station and NAP units have been deployed across the borders of Mangkolemba Subdivision as well as in the Tuli Subdivision”.
Chauhan also added, “In terms of providing further safety we have already started sanitizing all the vehicles with the help of administration. According to the order passed by the government, we are only allowing essential commodities vehicle to enter our state. We police have also come up with our own core committee to go through our officials who are on duty because we being in the frontline are at more risk. Along with this 17 thermal scanners have been donated to us by our well-wishers and this will be actively used to keep a check on the health conditions of the police personnel’s who are deployed in the duty of COVID-19. We have also provided the police personnel’s with face mask, sanitizers and protective suits because we are all together in this fight”.
Mokokchung SP Vishal Chauhan also informed that an app has been developed to monitor the movement of people under home quarantine as well as institutional quarantine.
