GUWAHATI: Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has made some special requests to the Bihu committees of the state in view of COVID19 pandemic. Mahanta has urged the Bihu committees to have an assembly of five people only to hoist the flag.
DGP has also asked the committees to restrict the hoisting of the flag to 30 minutes and ensure social distancing.
Earlier, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the Bihu Committees to celebrate Bihu by hiosting the flag with 5 members of the committee.
“I humbly request every Bihu Committee to conclude the Bihu programme by hiosting the flag with five people and singing ‘Sreemoyee Axomir xeetol Bukut Uthe’ song. They should not organise any stage programme,” Dr. Sarma said.
