GUWAHATI: Amid Coronavirus fear, uncertainty looms over the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections which are scheduled to be held on April 4.

Speculations are mounting over the postponement of elections as the Assam government has already issued restrictions on mass gathering to prevent spread of COVID-19.

According to reports, the state election commission is on constant talks with the state government to decide whether to postpone BTC polls or not.

On the other hand, political parties are holding massive campaign rallies in different parts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). People in large number are also attending the rallies.

Therefore, election commission and Assam government are considering to take measures to spread of the deadly disease.

The last date of filing nominations for BTC elections is March 18. Campaigns for the elections have already gained momentum for the elections where several influential Bodo leaders will be in the fray.
