Guwahati: In a bizarre incident reported from Karimganj in Assam, a groom ran away before his own marriage. The groom, Subhashish Das, a resident of Bajendra Road, Karimganj, was about to get married but went missing without informing even his own family.
The girl’s family are in a complete state of shock after it came to light that the groom was nowhere to be found. They came to know about the incident through social media channels. The marriage was to be performed in a traditional Bengali way. Subhashis Das is still on the run and there is no information about his whereabouts.
“From around 8 AM the groom went missing, but the groom’s side didn’t even bother to inform us. They could have at least informed us so we could come to a mutual decision. But we came to know at around five in the evening. It’s a kind of cheating. The groom’s brother-in-law has apologized for the whole incident and are ready the share the expense as compensation and have decided us to pay rupees one and a half lakh. But this is not about money, this is about trust and they have literally broken our trust. Whatever the situation is, even if the groom returns we are not ready to get our girl married to him,” added a relative of the bride.
