Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday felicitated veteran Bollywood singer Usha Mangeshkar at the 7th Mising Youth Festival. The 5-day festival started on March 5 in Jengraimukh, Majuli.
The Assam chief minister enjoyed the evening listening to songs by Usha Mangeshar and expressing his feelings on twitter: Tripping on nostalgia with the soulful songs from iconic movies Chameli Memsaab and Khoj. Addressing the crowd at the closing function of the festival, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “The festival is a glaring example of the colourful cultural heritage of the Mising community.”
Sonowal said that in the 21st century when information technology is calling the shots of activities of modern life, Mising Youth Festival has shown the people’s inherent ties with their culture.
In a series of tweets CM Sonowal expressed his gratitude as he experienced the colourful festival and met the people of Majuli.
