Guwahati: Amid speculation over a common candidate of Congress and AIUDF for Rajya Sabha polls in Assam, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal said that the candidate would be from non-political backgrouns
Talking to the media AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal said, “We have received many phone calls regarding the nomination of the third seat for Rajya Sabha but we have not decided it yet. We will let everyone know who will be our candidate for the upcoming election in the right time. I am thankful to the all the people who have called me for the candidature but it’s not possible for us to select everyone. We can only file one nomination and I hope the candidate will be from a non-political background”.
Reacting to the Central Government’s decision to constitute a Delimitation Commission Badruddin Ajmal also said, “We are going to challenge the decision of the centre regarding Delimitation. We have been observing that Delimitation has only brought to suppress a particular community. We are already in talks with the lawyers as how to challenge the decision in Supreme court and we ready to fight and protest against it”.
