GUWAHATI: The six-lane Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge will reduce the time to travel between Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati and Rangia to just 15 minutes, announced Assam’s health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today.
Attending the ‘Boomi Puja’ for the construction of the bridge, Dr. Sarma said, “The bridge will reduce time to travel between Fancy Bazaar in Guwahati and Rangia to just 15 minutes, between Baihata Chariali and Guwahati to 10-12 minutes and between Guwahati and the proposed AIIMS site in Changsari to just 7 minutes.”
The minister said that Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge is the biggest project state’s Public Works Department (PWD) has ever undertaken.
The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 9, 2019.
