PM’S Kokrajhar visit: Himanta Biswa Sarma requests Naba Sarania, non-Bodo bodies not to call bandh

GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed Kokrajhar MP Naba Sarania and other non-Bodo organisations not to call any bandh during prime minister Narendra Modi’s Kokrajhar visit on February 7.

“I have talked to Naba Sarania today morning. I have invited him to the meeting and requested him to ensure that there is no bandh on that day. I have also talked to Koch Rajbongshi organisations seeking cooperation. There have some issues regarding the accord. We will discuss the issues with Koch Rajbongshi, Gurkha, Adivasi and other organisations on February 12-13,” minister Sarma said today after reviewing the preparations for PM Modi’s programme in Kokrajhar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a function to celebrate the signing of historic Bodo Peace Accord on February 7.

Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today took stock of the preparations with BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, ministers Pijush Hazarika and Chandan Brahma, chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang and ABSU leaders.
