GUWAHATI: The first Lunar Eclipse of 2020 is tonight and this is also the decade’s first penumbral lunar eclipse. The eclipse will occur as the moon moves into earth’s outer shadow or penumbra.
Also nicknamed the ‘wolf moon eclipse’, the lunar eclipse will be visible in most parts of India including Assam on Friday night from 10:37 PM to 2:42 AM Saturday – that’s more than four hours. If you are in Guwahati you can witness the penumbral lunar eclipse.
Lunar eclipses occur only on a full moon night. Tonight’s eclipse will cause the moon to look darker than usual.
