New-look Gandhi Mandap unveiled in Guwahati, park inaugurated
Guwahati: Commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Guwahati District Administration and Guwahati Smart City Limited today opened the Gandhi Udyan (Park) here in the city. Built at a cost of Rs. 2.56 crore, the Gandhi Udyan (Park) was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Others present at the event were former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu and administration officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “The residents of Guwahati should take pride in the city. It is the responsibility of the citizens to keep it clean and should pledge for its cleanliness. Your identity is where you live. When we say that we live in Guwahati City the people who have visited the city will visualise and form an opinion. In order to pay our deepest respects to Mahatma Gandhi we must keep Guwahati clean.”
