Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the names of its candidates for the four assembly seats in Assam. The byelection for these 4 seats will be held on 21st October.
The Central Election Committee finalised the names of Bijay Malakar for Ratabari (SC), Towfiqur Rahman for Jania, Rajen Borthakur for Rangapara and Nabanita Handique for Sonari.
These seats were vacated after three BJP MLAs: Kripanath Mallah (Ratabari), Pallab Lochan Das (Rangapara) and Topon Kumar Gogoi (Sonari) got elected to Lok Sabha 2019. Congress candidate Abdul Khaleque (Jania) got elected to Lok Sabha from the Barpeta Lok Sabha Seat.
