Terror Attack in Pahalgam: 1 killed and 7 Tourists Injured in J&K Resort Firing

Terror Attack in Pahalgam: In a deeply shocking incident, terrorists opened fire at a tourist resort in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, leaving one killed and at least 7 tourists injured as per the sources. More details are expected to revealed soon as the search operation unfolds.

This area, often called “Mini Switzerland” because of its natural beauty, turned into a scene of chaos and fear in moments.

According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the shooting happened in the afternoon. Panic spread quickly as gunshots echoed through the valley. The place is usually filled with tourists enjoying horse rides and nature walks, but the peace was shattered suddenly.

Security forces, including the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, rushed to the spot and began search operations. The area is not easily accessible, reaching there involves a steep trek or a horseback ride, making rescue efforts more difficult and time-consuming.

One woman, speaking to PTI over the phone, said, “My husband was shot in the head. Seven others were also injured. Please help us, we need to get to the hospital.” Her voice trembled as she described the fear and helplessness in the aftermath of the attack.

As of now, there is no confirmation about any encounter between the terrorists and security forces. Officials are continuing search operations and trying to gather more details.

This incident comes just days after a high-tech terrorist hideout was busted in the Chhatru forests of Kishtwar. That operation, which lasted nearly 25 days, uncovered a sophisticated base used by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The hideout was well-equipped with food supplies, solar panels, GPS devices, and even a hidden underground tunnel—showing just how prepared these terrorists were for long-term survival.

Tuesday’s attack in Pahalgam has once again raised concerns about the safety of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, especially at a time when the region has been trying to boost tourism and restore peace. Thousands visit the valley every year, and such violent incidents are a major setback to those efforts.

As security forces continue their operation and injured tourists are being treated, people across the country are praying for their safety and hoping such incidents don’t happen again.
