A cloudburst led to heavy rainfall and landslides since early Sunday morning in Ramban district of Jammu & Kashmir
A cloudburst triggered heavy rain and multiple landslides leading to the deaths of at least 3 people in Ramban district of Jammu & Kashmir, reports said.
A massive landslide has also reportedly impacted a section of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the district, bringing traffic to a complete halt.
Video clips which have now flooded social media showed trucks and other vehicles stuck in sludge and rocks while several properties have also been destroyed due to the inclement weather.
Travelers, meanwhile, have been advised to avoid travelling unless extreme emergency and to stay updated through official channels.
A PTI report quoting a traffic department spokesperson said vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was stopped from both sides due to landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at multiple places between Nashri and Banihal.
Reports further said nearly 500 people were moved to safer locations during night-long operations while efforts are underway to relocate others trapped in vulnerable locations to safer places.
