Guwahati Traffic Police issued an urgent advisory asking travellers from Upper Assam and Meghalaya to take alternate routes to reach Guwahati following the Jorabat traffic jam

In the wake of Jorabat traffic jam, Upper Assam travellers and people coming from Meghalaya have been urged to take alternative routes to reach Guwahati with Traffic Police issuing an urgent advisory in the wake of the massive traffic jam that has become an almost regular affair at Jorabat since the past several days owing to the construction work undertaken by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The advisory has also taken strict measures to regulate movement of goods-carrying vehicles coming to Guwahati.

This advisory was signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Guwahati Police Commissionerate and issued “in the interest of travellers coming to Guwahati from Upper Assam and Meghalaya via Jorabat”.

Details of the advisory are:

  1. All goods-carrying vehicles coming towards Guwahati from Upper Assam will be diverted at Kaliabor Tiniali and will take the Kaliabor Tiniali – Sonitpur – Darrang – Baihata Chariali route.
  2. All goods-carrying vehicles coming from Nagaon/Morigaon/Meghalaya towards Guwahati will be allowed entry onto NH-27 within Guwahati city limits only between 10 PM and 6 AM.
  3. All LMVs coming from Upper Assam may use the following alternative routes to save time:

(a) Digaru Point on NH-27 – Digaru Tiniali – Amsing Jorabat – Army Camp-Patharquarry – Narengi

(b) Digaru Point on NH-27 – Digaru Tiniali – Chandrapur – Panikhaiti

(c) Chamota – Mayong – Chandrapur – Panikhaiti – Narengi

(d) Jagiroad – Mayong – Chandrapur – Panikhaiti – Narengi
