IPL 2025: KKR vs LSG Match Likely to Be Rescheduled Due to Security Concerns
Ram Navami, a significant festival in West Bengal, is slated for April 6 this year. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has announced plans for over 20,000 processions across the state on this day, necessitating extensive security measures. Consequently, the Kolkata Police have expressed their inability to provide adequate security for the KKR vs. LSG match at Eden Gardens, which typically attracts a crowd of around 65,000 spectators. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehasish Ganguly stated, “They have categorically said they won’t be able to provide adequate security. If there’s no police protection, accommodating a 65,000-strong crowd becomes impossible.”
CAB’s Communication with BCCI
In light of these developments, the CAB has officially informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the situation. The final decision regarding the rescheduling of the match is pending. Ganguly noted that a similar situation occurred last year when a match scheduled on Ram Navami had to be rescheduled due to security concerns.
Impact on Fans and Teams
The potential rescheduling has left fans in anticipation, especially considering the strong local support for both teams. LSG, owned by RPSG Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka, has a significant following in the region, adding to the match’s appeal. Both teams and their supporters are now awaiting the BCCI’s decision on the new date for this fixture.
