GUWAHATI, March 12: Three persons have been arrested for impersonating Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah.

The trio was arrested in Uttarakhand.

If that was not enough, the three individuals — identified as Uvaish Ahmed from Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district, and Gaurav Nath and Priyansu Pant from East Delhi’s Ghazipur — also tried to exhort money from BJP MLAs of the State by offering them the Chief Minister’s post for Rs 4 crore after N Biren Singh stepped down.

The arrests were made in connection with two FIRs registered at Imphal Police Station following which the trio were brought to the Manipur capital today.

Reports said the accused reportedly called up several BJP MLAs while introducing themselves as Jay Shah. They then claimed they could secure the CM’s post for any MLA willing to pay Rs 4 crore.

It is however not known as to how many MLAs were contacted by the three fraudsters or whether any MLA did pay them money.

N Biren Singh had to step down from office as Manipur CM on February 9 while the Centre imposed President’s Rule in the state on February 13.
