The youth who entered the apartment in Guwahati’s 6 Mile locality with sharp weapon has been identified as Debojit Kutum
GUWAHATI, March 12: An incident of a youth entering an apartment in Guwahati’s 6 Mile locality with sharp weapon has raised alarm bells among residents of the housing society.
The youth, identified as Debojit Kutum, allegedly entered an apartment named Prince Residency located in Six Mile area of Guwahati.
The incident took place on Sunday night.
The owner of the apartment said Debojit Kutum came to the residential complex and was seen on CCTV visuals brandishing a sharp dagger.
The youth reportedly came to apartment number 2(B) where two girls, one of them reportedly the youth’s girlfriend, lived.
The youth was apparently intoxicated and created a nuisance before leaving his girlfriend with him.
Residents of the apartment have filed a police complaint at Dispur Police against the youth.
“Two girls lived at the apartment which we had rented out and the youth who came with a dagger was reportedly the boyfriend of one of them. It was on Sunday night when the person came and left with his girlfriend. CCTV footages showed him brandishing a sharp dagger while he was making his way to the apartment,” the houseowner told News Live.
“The entire incident has raised questions on the intention of the youth and why did he came with a sharp weapon. Although the girl (Debojit Kutum’s reported girlfriend) now says she went with him willingly, it appeared that he took her with him forcefully,” she further stated.
The apartment owner and other residents said they now want action taken by police against the youth since the issue cannot be taken lightly.
“What if he would have attacked someone with the sharp weapon? He was reportedly intoxicated and God knowns what his intention was? We would request Guwahati Police to carry out a detailed probe and to take action against the youth as per legal provisions,” another resident of the apartment said.
