Protesters torch Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Dhaka house

GUWAHATI, Feb 6: A group of violent protesters torched the house of Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka as his daughter, deposed Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was live streaming an address to her supporters on Facebook.

Videos showed several thousand people in front of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area, earlier turned into a memorial museum, since early Wednesday evening following a social media call for a “Bulldozer Procession” with his daughter and former PM Hasina scheduled to make her address at 9 pm (BST).

The protesters were demanding a ban on Awami League while Sheikh Hasina, in her address, called upon her supporters to rally against the present regime.

“They can demolish a building, but not the history,” Hasina reportedly said in her address.
