India celebrates 76th Republic Day; President Murmu unfurls tricolour at Kartavya Path

GUWAHATI, Jan 26: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating the country’s 7th Republic Day.

President Murmu unfurled the tricolour at Kartavya Path and took the salute of the Republic Day Parade that showcases India’s achievements and progress, its culture and traditions as well as the nation’s military might.

The chief guest of this year’s Republic Day celebrations is Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Around 10,000 special guests have also been invited to witness the spectacle.

Prime Minister Modi, who paid his homage to the martyrs at the National War Memorial earlier in the morning, also joined the nation’s 76th Republic Day celebrations at the Kartavya Path.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi greeted the people and remarked that today we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic.

“Happy Republic Day.

Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India,” Prime Minister Modi said in a post on ‘X’.

“गणतंत्र दिवस की ढेरों शुभकामनाएं!

आज हम अपने गौरवशाली गणतंत्र की 75वीं वर्षगांठ मना रहे हैं। इस अवसर पर हम उन सभी महान विभूतियों को नमन करते हैं, जिन्होंने हमारा संविधान बनाकर यह सुनिश्चित किया कि हमारी विकास यात्रा लोकतंत्र, गरिमा और एकता पर आधारित हो। यह राष्ट्रीय उत्सव हमारे संविधान के मूल्यों को संरक्षित करने के साथ ही एक सशक्त और समृद्ध भारत बनाने की दिशा में हमारे प्रयासों को और मजबूत करे, यही कामना है।” he wrote in Hindi in another update on ‘X’.
