GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Contrary to media reports that a man, said to be the person who had attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra home around 2:30 am Thursday, was arrested earlier today, Mumbai Police have clarified that no one has been detained in connection with the case.
Earlier it was reported that one person had been brought to Bandra Police station for questioning. But Police have now clarified saying that the person is not related to the Saif Ali Khan assault case.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Government ruled out any possibility of the involvement of the underworld in the incident.
“No underworld gang is behind the knife attack on Saif Ali Khan,” Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said on Friday.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by the intruder after a failed robbery bid at his home in Bandra, Mumbai, following which the actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he was operated upon by a team of doctors.
Mumbai Police said the incident took place around 2:30 am Thursday and suspected that the attacker might have been present inside the actor’s house.
Doctors of the hospital said the actor is currently out of danger.
Other members of Saif Ali Khan’s family, including wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, and sons Taimur and Jeh, are safe, a statement issued by his team stated.
“Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident.
We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time,” the statement stated.
