GUWAHATI, Dec 11: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the government recruitment process now is as clean and pure as the river Ganga. He further stated that with the government ironing out anomalies in recruitment processes, the talk of the town now is not about sons and daughters of ministers and MLAs clearing APSC exam but on meritorious sons and daughters of marginalised families acing such examinations.
Chief Minister Sarma said this while launching the 12-day programme to distribute grants, assistance, and scholarships under various schemes titled ’12 Days of Development’ that began today.

In the first programme, Chief Minister Sarma distributed scooters under the Dr Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, cash prizes under the Anundoram Borooah Award, and bicycles under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme at the central function held at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati today.

Under the triple schemes, meritorious students will receive 48,673 scooters and 3,23,640 bicycles, while 26,969 students securing 75% and above in Class 10 will be provided with direct cash benefit and the amount will be credit directly into their bank accounts.
