GUWAHATI, Dec 6: Australia were 86/1 at Stumps on Day 1 of the second test of the Border-Gavasker Trophy at Adelaide, trailing India’s first innings score of 180 all out by 94 runs.

Khwaja, who made 13 runs, was the only wicket to fall for the hosts as Nathan McSweeney (38) and Marnus Labuschagne (20) ensured there were no more hiccups for the Australians.

Earlier in the day, India batted first after winning the toss. A fiery spell from Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who ended up with career-best figures of 6 for 48, ripped apart the Indian batting line-up as the visitors were all out for 180 runs.

Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored making 42 while KL Rahul and Shubman Gill made 37 and 31 respectively.

India are 1-0 ahead after winning the first Test by a mammoth 295 runs.
