Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge to be dedicated to people after July 2025: CM Sarma

GUWAHATI, Nov 28: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge will be dedicated to the people after July 2025.

Chief Minister Sarma, who inspected progress of construction work of the bridge at the Guwahati end today, said work is progressing at a rapid pace and that the constructing company is hopeful of finishing the project in July next year.

“Construction work is progressing well and the constrution agency has said it will complete the project in July 2025. I have added three more months for completion of the project and we are hopeful of inaugurating it once they hand over the bridge to us after July,” Chief Minister Sarma said.

He further said except trucks and commercial buses, all other vehicles will not required to pay any toll while using the bridge.

On the proposed ring road and the Kuruwa-Narangi bridge over the Brahmaputra, Chief MInister Sarma said he wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the two projects during his proposed visit to Assam on Feb 24.
