GUWAHATI, Nov 21: A tragic sight that made many people’s eyes moist! Residents of Puranigudam’s Mikirhat near Nagaon town will never forget the sight they saw today as five newborn pups were seen suckling milk from their dead mother dog.
The canine, who had given birth to the pups two days ago, was battered to death by a person named Dadul Saikia. The reason for such an inhuman and unpardonable act, residents alleged, was because the mother dog killed chickens the accused reared.
The suckling pups were seen feeding themselves on the dead dam’s milk. Women of the village were in tears seeing this as villagers said the allegations of the accused killing chickens were untrue and that the mother dog displayed no such behaviour in the past.
“We will lodge a complaint with the Forest Department as well as with the police and see to it that Dadul Saikia is punished for his inhuman act,” a villager said.
“How can anybody do such a thing? Did he not feel for the pups? How will they grow up now that their mother is no more. He should be punished for what he has done,” a woman of the village said.
