GUWAHATI, Nov 19: The Indian men’s football team ended 2024 without a win as Malaysia held them to a 1-1 draw in a FIFA friendly at the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday night.
Although the visitors took the lead through forward Paulo Josue in the 19th minute, the hosts equalised with Rahul Bheke’s fiery header twenty minutes later to restore parity.
While India came calling to find a win in the concluding International of 2024, Malaysia, under Spanish coach Pau Martí, looked for tactical domination on the pitch with clever interchanging of positions as no goals were scored in the second 45 minutes.
India’s Brandon Fernandes was adjudged the Player of the Match.
